WHAT IS IGNITE?
IGNITE is designed to bring families of all ages and backgrounds together in a supportive atmosphere of faith-sharing. Helping today’s changing families and Christian communities witness what it means to be Church, IGNITE explores and explains the main truths of the faith through an exciting program of experiences, discussions, games, music and drama, and art to help guide families through the faith sharing experience.
By inviting young families into community, IGNITE offers parents the supportive presence of the Church. By involving people of all ages, IGNITE teaches that faith formation is a lifelong endeavor. In working together, IGNITE assumes everyone within a community has something to share. The elderly bring the wisdom of experience; the middle-aged, the wisdom of the practical; the teenagers, the wisdom of idealism; the children; the wisdom of discovery; the little ones, the wisdom of wonder.
WHO IS IGNITE FOR?
Faith Formation for children usually begin when children begin Grade 1 or at 6 years of age, although siblings (younger or older!) are always welcome. While IGNITE is targeted towards the faith formation of the immediate family, that being parents and children, IGNITE can involve all members of the families. We welcome the participation of grandparents and extended family as well! Participation in the IGNITE program is also a prerequisite for the Sacramental Programs – First Reconciliation and First Communion. Families should complete one full year of IGNITE before applying for sacramental formation.
