Formation of a Parish Council

As I mentioned in my New Year’s message in the bulletin, I am really excited for what God has in store for us this year as we move forward in transforming our parish from maintenance to mission. In order to achieve this, I have decided that the parish needs a Parish Council that will help me, the Holy Trinity Leadership Team (HTLT) and the parish as a whole. The purpose of this Parish Council is to help with long-term strategic planning (5 years out). They will also function as an advisory body to help me, the Pastoral Administrator, as I make major decisions that will impact the whole parish. Because of the unique function of the parish council, this body will not be composed by representation from the three churches, but instead be based on the strategic strengths of individuals. It will be good if the three churches will be represented, but this is not the highest priority. We are looking for people who have the necessary strengths, and will look after the needs for the whole parish, not just their respective churches.

As we previously shared, the qualifications that we are looking for are as follows:

1) Have attended ALPHA

2) Have read the Divine Renovation book by Fr. James Mallon

3) Have done the StrengthFinders Assessment and are willing to provide your top 5 strengths.

We are looking for six people to be part of the Parish Council; three will be appointed and three will come from the nominations.  A leadership nomination form can be found at all three church locations and on our website. Interested individuals are asked to submit a completed form to Catherine Kidson.

The deadline for submissions will be on February 16, 2018. We will follow this up with an interview, and hope to form the parish council by March. We, the Holy Trinity Leadership Team (HTLT) will evaluate all people that will be nominated and we will only get in touch with individuals who passed the qualifications and set a day for an interview.

I really hope that we will be able to find the people who can be part of the parish council that will help lead this parish from maintenance to mission. If you know someone who are qualified, don’t miss out on this opportunity to nominate them.

Yours truly,
Fr. Ken Lao, CC
Pastoral Administrator
